The legacy of Puerto Vallartas
and Mexicos art began over 3,000 years ago. Until the
time of the Spanish conquest, art, architecture, politics,
and religion were inextricably intertwined. With the advent
of the colonial period Christian symbolism replaced many of
the ancient power signs such as the eagle, the feathered serpent,
and the jaguar. Today much of the contemporary art of Puerto
Vallarta is centered around religious symbolism and the veneration
of the spirit of the Mexican people.
