Normally people who accompany you to your Vallarta wedding, stay for more than a day and profit from this opportunity to take a pleasant vacation in this paradisiacal place, that is, they take advantage of the effort and expense involved in traveling from their place of origin to make it an enjoyable experience in the company of their family and/or friends, who will be all reunited for the event.
Most couples that marry here know of the effort involved in every guest’s attendance to their wedding, so they look for a way to thank them for it.
Here is a list of what we have been able to identify in our experience along the past years as a good way to reciprocate.
• Welcome Gifts or Welcome gift Bags:
This bags’ content can be quite varied, though they usually contain typical local details, like candies, tequila, artisans’ crafts, sunscreens, etc. You can also add a map of Puerto Vallarta and information on activities and places to visit.
These are regularly delivered upon guests’ arrival to the destination or placed in their room as a welcome present.
• Welcome Dinner or Welcome Party:
In most occasions a welcome party or a welcome dinner is offered, it can be celebrated in the same location as that of the wedding, although almost always a different venue is chosen, mostly restaurants.
Regularly guests are offered a welcome gesture, this helps to generating a more casual and relaxed ambiance, combining it with the scenery of Puerto Vallarta and a Mexican touch. Many people are used to offering a simple meal consisting of Mexican-style tidbits, wine and beer, accompanied by a good music selection.
• Rehearsal Dinner
This is a very common event, mainly for foreigners, as having either a gift or a welcome dinner, there is always a rehearsal dinner, when members of both families and the closest friends get together a day before the main event, this is very helpful in the case when members of both families do not yet know each other too well.
In addition to this, there is a rehearsal with all the ceremony’s participants, which is known as “wedding party”, with all the same dinner participants, as they are the closest to the bride and groom.
• Gifts during the wedding
In the case when no prior event has been organized, many times it is customary to deliver gifts or souvenirs during the celebration of the wedding and the ceremony. Gifts may be fans or accessories, picture-frames, photos, raw-cotton bags, etc.
It is important to let you know that this is not a matter of budget, since many couples will sponsor the dinners; others will coordinate with their friends and family to get together in various locations on the prior days to the main event, this will enable them to share their time and expenses.
