What is the best time of the year for getting married?
By Priscilla & Héctor Arminio - Prisar Vallarta. Translated by Eduardo Rincón-Gallardo - June 2008
Once they have decided to get married, a couple will most likely proceed to make the first decision and that will be the wedding date. They usually choose an anniversary, or a long weekend so guests can have a chance to make a vacation out of it.
Many considerations come with the date, but when they want to get married in a place like Puerto Vallarta, they will have to consider the weather during the different seasons of the year as a variable in order to decide the day and schedule of the wedding.
Puerto Vallarta is not only a place with natural wonders and spectacular breathtaking places, but it is also a destination with four well-defined seasons, for that same reason they should profit from each season’s advantages and include them into the planning, organization and operation of the event.
Let’s see what some of the characteristics of each season are:
■ Spring
Temperate weather; sunny during the day and fresh enough for comfort at night. There is no rain or humidity. Sunset is around 6:30pm.
■ Summer
Hot weather; it is sunny during the day and slightly cooler at night. There is humidity and high frequency of rain, especially from July to September. Sunset is around 8:30pm.
■ Fall
Hot weather; sunny during the day and hot at night. Very humid and high probability of rain. Sunset is around 7:30pm.
■ Winter
Temperate weather; sunny during the day and fresh enough for comfort at night. Little humidity and minimal possibility of rain. Sunset is around 7:00pm.
Now, what must be considered based on the aforementioned information is the following:
- Using a ballroom or a tent during the last two months of summer and during fall.
- During spring and winter the sun goes down earlier, we can profit better from the outdoors and have a longer reception.
- During the last month of spring and the first months of summer sunsets are gorgeous and we can make the best of sunlight to celebrate our event earlier and with colorful decorations.
Based on our experience we can conclude that the most convenient months and those with the highest demand for weddings are: November, February and May; followed by January, March and April.
Of course there are other important variables to be considered, as purveyors, for instance, among others.
